Types of Machine Design

We basically have three types of Machine Design.

The different types of Machine Design are

1. Adaptive design 
2. Developed design
3. New design

The description of above are as follows:

1. Adaptive design

Adaptive design is basically a small modification or minor change in existing design. It means in case of adaptive a component of product is all ready there it is existing. And we make minor change change in this then it term in the adaptive design. Adaptive design is not a new design here product is all ready there but we have to change it and provide minor modifications.

It is a design in which we make minor modification in the existing design or product.

If we change slightly some design feature for example we change it colour then it would be adaptive design or adding some component or we removing some component then it would be adaptive design.

In case of adaptive design only some basic technical skills are required.

 Examples of adaptive design : 

Diesel engine : As we know diesel engine is already existing. It is  in use if we make any small modification then it would in adaptive design.

Bicycle : Bicycles are existing then we would be some modification by provide gear in chain sprocket then it would be adaptive bicycle.

2. Developed design : 

Even in this case existing product is use but it is use just for basic.

In this case existing product or design is just use as basis. It only for reference.

Entire concept is new and developed to make a product better.

Example : 

Electric components or equipments, modified bike etc.

3. New Design : 

In this design a component or product is made from scratch. The designer must have complete knowledge of designing. This is one of the most complicated designs.

Examples.

Solar power plans, tidal power plants etc.

When we are making first time then it come categories of new design. So what ever thing we are making it first time that concept it is called new design.
